 2020 WHG Men’s League Format

When:  Every Wednesday from June 17th- September 16th

Time:  7:00am to the last tee time of the day.  Men’s League participants who pay the $25 registration fee will be allowed to book 7 days in advance each Wednesday.

Cost:  $10 Weekly fee with optional $5 skins game and $2 skins pot. Also, there will be a $25 one-time registration fee for players who want to participate in the yearlong point competition. The $25 and weekly fees will be done via e-transfer as the pro shop does not have a cash float. E-transfers must be sent to stephenpughgolf@outlook.com  before play.  If you require any assistance with the e-transfer, please send me an email.

Divisions:  Men 59 and under will play from the White tees.  Senior Men 60 and over will play from the Red tees.

There will be weekly individual prizes for gross and net scoring.  Skins and skins pot hole will be individual based and by gross score.

Net scoring will determine the seasonal point competition, so all skill levels are encouraged to join and participate.  Players are all required to have a Golf Canada handicap.  If they do not, they will be given a handicap of 0 to start the year.  If you require one, please contact our staff at the pro shop.

Scorecards will be dropped off in our marked ballot box located in the pro shop.  Players that do not turn in a scorecard will not have a score counted for that week.  Rule sheets will be provided by the starter at the first tee.

Good afternoon everyone,

Course News/Update June 16, 2020

With Men’s League and Ladies League both starting on Wednesday June 17, I wanted to remind all players that weekly advance booking is available on a first come first serve basis for all participating league  players.  You can simply book your round for the following Wednesday when you arrive for your tee time (must be booked in person or over the phone).

As the golf course continues to improve with the beautiful weather, we would ask all members to please make sure that you are repairing your ball marks on all greens going forward.  The rule is to always repair yours and another if time permits.  Please ask our starter for a free repair tool if you do not have one in your bag. 

With regards to the driving range, we will continue to be on range mats for the next week, so that we can get as much growth as possible on the tee deck now that the weather is cooperating.  Once again I would like to remind all range users to yield to all traffic on hole #13.

Stay and Play – for the 2020 season, WHG has partnered with the Delta Fredericton (once again) to offer Stay and Play Packages to our of town guests starting in July.  Along with this great news, the Dip Pool Bar & Grill will be offering an exclusive 15% off discount on food & beverage to all WHG Members!  We are in the process of having cards printed up, so stay tuned!  These exclusive cards will be issued to all interested members and will be valid until September 1^st, 2020.  Once the cards have been issued, WHG members will be required to show your card to your server to receive your discount.

Finally I would like to make a special announcement regarding our new partnership with JH Sports and Calvin Ross.  WHG ownership would like to announce that Calvin Ross will be our first official lifetime member!  Big congrats Calvin!  All the best in the future from your friends at WHG!

To follow up on my message from earlier today, I want to let everyone know that on June 3^rd one of our members was struck by a range ball and injured on 13 tee(s).  We take this situation very seriously and we would like to make sure that this does not happen to anyone else.

Please be aware of all traffic on hole 13 and please avoid using driver if any traffic is visible!

Course News and Update June 4, 2020

–Tee Time Intervals – We will be shifting back to 10min tee time intervals on Tuesday, June 9.

–Power Carts – Since we will be returning to 10min intervals, our power cart format we also be returning to a maximum of two carts (3 if available/non bubble player/based strictly on daily availability) per foursome within each tee time.

We will be removing the Cart Path Only restrictions on Monday, June 8 and moving to the 90 degree rule until further notice.

–Driving Range – I wanted to remind everyone again that if you are using the driving range, to yield to all traffic on hole #13.  Please avoid using driver (long hitters) if any traffic is visible!  The safety of all golfers is always our top priority, so please pay attention when using the range.  We are also adding 12 additional signs to remind golfers to yield to all traffic on #13.

I know a number of you are hoping to get off the range mats soon… so I will have an update on this shortly.

–Bag Storage – We will be offering a limited amount of bag storage starting on Monday, June 8 (existing bag storage members will be given first option).   We will have a Covid protocol for bag storage this season and will ask the golfers to retrieve/return their own bag while our staff will allow access/supervise.   If interested, call the clubhouse at 450-GOLF (4653) for availability. 

Season rate is set at $95 plus tax. 

–Men’s and Ladies League – We will be making an announcement with start dates/format shortly, so please stay tuned!

With the return of 10min tee times, we will ask for everyone’s patience with the pace of play.  As many of you are aware, there are a number of golfers walking this season, so our Starter/Marshal will be out to enforce our pace of play when a group falls behind.
