West Hills Golf News – April 30th, 2020
Good evening everyone,
I realize a number of you are getting very excited to get back out on the course as soon as possible, so I wanted to share some of the provincial guidelines/protocols that will be in place at WHG this season along with answers to the most frequently asked questions over the past week(s):
–Course Opening Date – we are hoping for a mid-May start as long as the weather holds. We will be updating everyone on this as soon as more information is available.
–Range Opening Date – as I had mentioned in a previous message, we were looking to invest resources in improving our range for more efficient picking/early opening date, but the state of emergency has restricted staff at the course, so we hope to get these improvements started shortly and the range opened as soon as possible.
–Tee Time Intervals/Booking a Tee Time – intervals are now set at 20min (WHG is typically 10min), this is to ensure that groups are evenly spaced throughout the entire round.
The only way to book a tee time will be online via our website or over the phone, cash cannot be accepted. All players must have a tee time, no walk-ons will be permitted.
–Physical Distancing – golfers will be required to stay a minimum of 2 meters (6 feet) between individuals at all times. Golfers must avoid personal contact before, during and after their round. No handshakes, etc. Groups must not congregate at clubhouse or patio before or after their round. Golfers will be asked to leave the property immediately after their round.
–Use of Power Carts – there will be a limit of one person per cart, unless the occupants reside in the same household (Some of you have asked about 2 bags on a cart. We are currently waiting on ruling/details). Power carts will not have scorecards or pencils onboard. Our marshals will have a procedure in place to help with this. All power carts will be fully sanitized before and after each round/use.
–Pull Cart, Club Rentals and Bag Storage – all pull cart and club rentals are prohibited. Bag/club storage is also prohibited.
–Driving Range – physical distancing rules will limit the total stations available. Range balls, baskets will be fully sanitized after each recovery/use. All club washers, ball washers and tee mix bottles are prohibited. Daily range hours of operation will be modified at the start of the season.
–Flag Sticks, Cups and Bunkers – We are currently working on options to keep the flags in place and to allow golfers to putt into the cup, as long as health & safety practices are met. Details to follow in our opening update. All rakes will be removed from bunkers and a house rule will be in place to determine play.
–Practice Putting/Chipping Greens – these will remain open with physical distancing measures in place.
–Clubhouse Area – clubhouse, common areas and patio must remain closed.
League play and tournaments are prohibited.
All food and beverage services are modified at the club and orders can only be placed over the phone for pick up via our take-out window. We will be very limited with our food offering for the immediate future, but will have our regular canned and bottle lineup for all beverages.
We are currently updating our online system to accommodate merchandise purchases for take-out at our pick up window. Beverage carts are prohibited.
If you are looking to purchase your membership, please call the clubhouse 450-GOLF (4653) between 9:30am to 4:30pm Monday-Friday for details/appointment.
Sincerely,
